Cold weather = cosy crafting

Do you find that when the weather is cold your crafty habits create cosier projects to give you that warmth that we are missing from the summer months?

I always turn to crochet in the winter and now that I’ve been taught (via the wonder of YouTube) to loom knit I am able to knit again, even with my dodgy hand which is brilliant!

My first project this year was a cosy crochet blanket for which I found a tutorial for a granny rectangle rather than square. I had to tweak it a little as it was going a bit long and thin whereas I was after more of a wider lap blanket to fit on the back of my favourite chair so that is easy to grab to snuggle under. I made this using two Caron Cakes that I got in a bargain bin a Michael’s store in Phoenix. Total cost $7.25, so I think that’s a bargain. I adore the colours and this one was started on a chilly Saturday morning, continued in the green room at Create and Craft and finished on a lovely chilled out Sunday!

I’m currently halfway through my first pair of loom knit fingerless gloves so here’s a sneak peek and I’ll show you these properly when I’ve finished!

Do you change your crafty projects depending on the season/ weather?
